LDL receptors bind to LDL and VLDL particle (bad cholesterol) in the liver and they are reprocessed into bile salts and other by-products. Studies show that statin prevents CVD due to four reasons.

  • Modulate inflammatory response.
  • Main plaque stability.
  • Prevent blood clot formation.

It also increased the level of HDL (Good cholesterol) and reduces triglycerides.

How to take Rosuvastatin?

The drug is available in the form of a tablet.

  • Strength – 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg.
  • Initial dose– 5 mg one time in a day.
  • Maximum dose – 40 mg daily.
  • Children < 8 years– safety and efficacy not established.
  • Children 8 to < 10 years – 5-10 mg in a day.
  • 10-17 years of age – 5 to 20 mg per day. Maximum dose 20 mg daily.

The doctor may adjust the dose as the effect and how it is tolerated by patient at intervals of at least 2-4 weeks.

  • Breast Feeding
  • Having dental or any other surgery.
  • Hospitalized due to serious injury or infection.
  • Take alcohol.
  • Take any anticoagulant 2 hours before this drug.
