Treating Seasonal Allergies

There are many ways to treat seasonal allergies.  As suggested by expert, avoiding the allergen is still the best measure. To keep your kid from exposure, you can:

  • change air condition filter always
  • wear protective mask when gardening
  • shower and change clothing after playing outside
  • Keep windows and doors shut at home and in your car during allergy season
  • check your pets for pollen

If reducing exposure is ineffective there are medications available. You just have to work with your Allergist to know what allergens are at work in order to get proper treatment.  They can recommend a variety of medications like:

  1. Nasal sprays to reduce the inflammation in the nose lining. Examples are Budesonide Nasal Spray and Albuterol.
  2. Oral Antihistamine to prevent the release of more histamine. Examples are Allegra (Fexofenadine), Loratidine, Levocetirizine and Cetirizine HCL.
