Clindamycin is an antibiotic that can treat serious bacterial infections. It is prescribed for the treatment of various types of infections like:

The dose is divided into 3 or 4 equal doses. Take this medication by mouth with or without food. Take it with a glass full of water to avoid irritation on the esophagus.

  • Clindamycin can promote the growth of C. difficile bacteria. These bacteria can cause diarrhea and damages to your intestine. Patients who are taking this drug are at risk of developing this condition.
  • This medication is suitable for both adults and children.
  • Patients with ulcerative colitis must use this with care.
  • Patients with a history of inflammation in the large intestine should also use this medication with care.
  • Pregnant and breastfeeding women must not use this medicine.
  • Clindamycin may cause side effects like any other drug of its kind. Common side effects are diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting and stomach pain. Serious side effects are allergic reaction, blood disorder and Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
  • Patients with liver and kidney problem must use this with care.
